Top Australian And New Zealand Travel Blogs
I stumbled upon this great list created by Pretraveller and when I saw that she longer wanted to continue doing it I decided to do it…
I used the same blogs as her list but added a few I had heard of myself as well. I used, however, a different scoring methodology.
Criteria
- The travel blogs listed are created by either Australian or New Zealanders (citizens or long time residents) or those who write a lot about either of these countries.
- At least 50% of the blog’s content must be travel related
- The blog must have only one author (or two if a couple/young family who travel together), not a whole group of unrelated co-authors
- The blog must have its own domain name
- The author must have a Twitter and Klout account in order for me to calculate the score
- If you have a score of 0 or 1 for any of the columns you won’t be added
Scoring Methodology
- Moz Domain Authority (DA) – This is a score out of 100, thought of as ‘thought leadership.’ DA can be described in four ways: the ‘prestige’ of a website and its authors, the quality of the information presented, the information and website centrality and the competitive situation around a subject.
- Moz Page Authority (PA) – This is also scored out of 100. Compared to Domain Authority which determines the ranking strength of an entire domain or subdomain, Page Authority measures the strength of an individual page.
- Moz Rank – MozRank quantifies link popularity and is Moz’s version of Google’s classic PageRank algorithm. Pages earn MozRank based on the other pages on the web that link to them and the MozRank of those linking pages. Moz Rank is from 1 to 10.
- Klout – Klout uses social networks such as Bing, Facebook, Foursquare, Google+, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, and Wikipedia data to create Klout user profiles that are assigned a unique ‘Klout Score’ ranging from 1 to 100.
The absolute maximum score a blog can have using this above methodology is 310 points.
This data on the list is only a snapshot and not live data.
If you would like to be added to this list please email me with 1. Your Blog name, 2. Blog URL, 3. Twitter URL, 4. Country and 5. Year you started your blog. I’ll add you during the next round. I’m sorry I cannot add those without Twitter accounts. If you would like your entry modified or deleted please contact me also.
I’m still adding new blogs for this round up until Thur 5 April 6pm AEST . Those submitted after this will have to wait till the next round.
Thanks!
